Compatibility Check for DIY Kits
Thinking about converting your traditional metal snaps to the easy to use STREX Fastener System? Review this checklist to ensure our retro-fit solution is right for your boat and cover.
Compatibility Questions:
- Are the male hull snaps on your vessel located on the side of your hull at least 2" down from the top of the hull?
- Does your cover use tension poles?
- Are your hull snaps screwed into your hull? (Not riveted.)
If you answered yes to these three questions it sounds like you are a great candidate for the STREX Fasteners Conversion System!
If your snaps are located down the sides of your hull by 2" there should be no gap created between your cover and the interior of your boat, you should be snug and secure.
If you use tension poles, no need to worry about any slack created by the additional length from the fastener... simply erect your tension pole to achieve the desired tension.
If your hull snaps are secured by screws (as most are,) you can easily and safely remove them without the need of professionals or specialty tools.
If you answered no to any of these questions or have more specific questions for our technical team, please reach out to contact@strexfasteners.com to inquire further.

Trailering a boat with STREX fasteners has not been tested and therefore not recommended.
